Human Trafficking takes on many forms throughout the world and is driven by our desire to get what we want, at the lowest price possible. Our obsession with low prices creates the environment for labor trafficking. Our desire to satisfy our lusts leads to sex trafficking, often the selling of children.

Not Just Over There

While we may think this is only a problem in developing and poverty-stricken nations, trafficking, and especially sex trafficking is driven largely by the demand of wealthy nations. It happens in America; it happens in every state.

CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children)

In 2010, the President of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) testified that between 100,000 and 300,000 youth are victims of CSEC, mainly prostitution, in the United states each year. These children are victims of physical, emotional and sexual violence. They are controlled through psychological manipulation, threats to family, or with promises.

According to the Covenant House Report, shelter is the number one traded commodity in return for sex. Almost 50% of minors engaging in commercial sex do so for a place to stay. Walk Reclaimed's goal is to provide homes for these kids.

The average age for girls to first become victims of prostitution is 12 to 14. For boys the average is about a year younger.

Let's be clear on one thing ... these are not criminals, they are children.
